chainsaws, berries, and miracles

View from the front yard

View from the front yard last Summer (there are mountains in the distance, but it's too cloudy to see them)

Mom, Dad, the kittens, and I  just got back from the farm. It was a really relaxing time except that Dad cut himself…with the chainsaw! We were down by the pond clearing away some brush (i was actually reading on a blanket in the grass ha) and Dad was using the chainsaw. The next thing that happened was he put it down and said “I just cut myself with the chainsaw. I think I’m going to need to go to the doctor” Mom just said “Are you serious?” It’s just like her to get mad instead of worried. It ended up being not too deep of a cut, but he did get 12 stitches. On Saturday we went into town for dinner and by this time I had broken the juice fast and decided that maybe my problem is that I needed more digestive enzymes so that proteins would stop getting into my bloodstream undigested. So, I let myself eat some bread (gasp) after taking extra enzyme supplements. Dinner was terrible though..I got trout that was overcooked on quinoa that tasted like nothing and green beans (which was not what was on the menu, and I’m allergic to them) So we got crepes from a roadside crepe take-away place…odd… I know. But they are delicious. I got the nutella and almond crepe. They both got crepes suzette. I enjoyed food this weekend and I think that’s important to do every few weeks if you are on as strict of a diet as I am.

Tomorrow I get back to juicing in the morning and eating only vegetables, grains, beans, and some fruit (berries, apples, grapefruit, lemon, lime because they are all low in sugar). I may start eating fish again because I miss it and I was eating it over the summer when I had no joint inflammation.  I see Dr. B (the nutritionist) on Tuesday, so maybe he will put me on more supplements or have a new idea. I’m just hoping for a miracle, aren’t I?

And…..I’m going to visit my friends at school this weekend! I can’t wait!!

p.s. I just got a new camera charger, so I will put more photos up soon.

  1. Thank you. I am so glad that I found your blog. I have experimented with diet changes but I am still taking meds. I have only been diagnosed 3 months but I feel strongly that my diet has contributed to my condition. I am determined to change it.

  2. Thank you for commenting! It is really a process of trial and error but I believe that if everyone with RA shares what works for them then we can figure it out together!
